Yossi Leshem will show video clips and slides emphasizing how peace can be advanced by using bird migration as a platform for people-to-people activities in Israel and the Middle East. Yossi Leshem is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Zoology at Israel's Tel Aviv University and was previously the CEO of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI). He is a world-renowned ornithologist who has studied birds for 45 years, and is currently leading several regional initiatives using birds to develop people-to-people activities in the Middle East. His research with the Israeli Air Force (IAF) for over three decades resulted in the reduction of aircraft-bird collisions by 76%, saving the national budget $1.3 billion, not to mention the lives of the aircrew saved.
